Plobal: Map Your Agenda With Plobal
Location. Location. Location.
It's not just a real estate mantra anymore, especially when the biggest question on everyone's mind is 'Where?' - Where to party, where to hang, where to grab some food, where to listen to live music, where to avail exciting offers...and the list goes on.
The answer lies in Maps.
Plobal.com brings you this detailed, yet intriguing bird's eye view of the most happening events and places, all charted out neatly on the map of your city. And contrary to popular belief about maps, these aforementioned Maps are downright easy to read, and what's more, they're surprisingly enjoyable to look through.
Sign in or sign up with Plobal.com to find out, go places, or simply look around at what the city holds for you. Also, +1 for the sheer convenience of simply zeroing-in on a preferred location on the map, rather than scrolling down the page, the traditional way - although that is also an option for those who choose it. You can also 'Favourite' the brands and places you like to stay on top of their offers, events or news.
Plobal provides filters to hasten your search and focus your attention to Food, Nightlife or Recreation. The most helpful feature however, remains the real-time updates that the Maps provide, keeping you in sync with the pulse of the city at all times. Plobal has seamlessly integrated its services, such that it helps you not just to pick a place or event, but takes you places, showing you what next.
So go on, see (http://bit.ly/PlobalMaps) for yourself! Or better yet, head right to Plobal.com and let Plobal take you places!

Social Itinerary and Civic Issue Management
If you fancy yourselves as a traveller this one should interest you, we all like to visit places of our interest in different ways depending on the type of travel we undertake. Whether travelling with friends or family we like to do some planning on how to reach the venue, which route to take, what's the best time to move, which dhaba or food joint to stop on the way etc etc.
Once your trip was over we used to share our experience among friends earlier, then came the era of blogging and social media which allowed us to open up our experience to like minded travellers who could benefit from our experience and have a smooth journey. There are many internet blogs and forums abundant with such information. At times reading so much material on the internet and leaves you more confused.
This is where a service like JoGuru comes handy when you want to filter out the right info related to your travel plans in the form of an itinerary, check out an article featured on this portal which explains in detail what this start up from Pune aims to do in making lives easier for globetrotters.
Another site which caught my attention this week is ChangeBhai, this portal allows you to report civic issues along with pictures, was surprised to see some issues reported from Pune already fixed. If such help is available for citizens on internet we should make use of it for overall betterment of our community. Lot of arm chair activists give up when it comes to taking a civic problem heads on and what remains is a diarrhoea of tweets and posts on social media.
Hats off to people who have created this portal and taking issues that concern the common man to the right authorities which may go unnoticed due to social apathy and lack of awareness on methods to deal with such problems.

Arm chair Activists bringing social change?
Yes, If you think the above title makes very little sense, very soon it may prove to be true. Did you ever wish that all your online rants on garbage, potholes, pollution of all kinds on popular social media platforms could reach the concerned authorities with a hope to see some positive action being taken against it?
Now is your chance to do something useful as an arm chair activist by being a part of SocialCops initiative, in which you can be a part of Citizen group along with NGO, Council and Corporate groups. This service is slated for a pilot launch in May starting with New Delhi. It is quiet commendable for a team of 3 NTU final year students from Singapore as a start-up aiming to launch such service, while they are currently busy developing the council side platform before going live they already have plans of taking this concept global.
If you are thinking how commercially viable this service could be? well that's being thought out as well to permit local small businesses to advertise on this platform and also offer perks and rewards, for citizens contributing to this initiative they could be rewarded in the form of discounts or promotions. The second option is garnering sponsorship from large brands and retailers who would be willing to participate as part of corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs.
This team already has a Facebook page up and running to test actual working of this model and most probably they would be using SMS service as a backbone for their venture to maximize participation from citizens in reporting civic issues around them, all this has being made possible after this start-up won Global ICT Prize and a $10,000 check from Microsoft at Global Social Entrepreneurship competition.
Let's hope this collaborative effort works at ground level for everyone and if such platform helps all of us to make even a small but significant change around us it would be a great success. Share your comments and feedback if you feel such public-private and government effort can help solve most of our civic issues.
Check the videos below to understand this concept in detail.

Narendra Modi on Google hangout
Narendra Modi is going to host a face to face conversation with citizens of this country on 31st August via Google + hangout session which would be broadcasted Live. We have seen politicians abroad utilizing social media to connect with people.
Narendra Modi has being very much active on social media, this would a first kind of initiative by a politician in India interacting with people over a social media platform, check out the promotional campaign on YouTube in the video below.
I watched some part of this live Google hangout session on YouTube, must admit that as a public orator and motivator Narendra Modi is way better than Manmohan Singh who lacks the charisma and public presence to the office he is currently holding.
