Where's Social Media Heading in India: Facts and Figures

Explosive adoption of Social, Mobile and Digital continues to swell in India which presents some astonishing facts in numbers which show a huge potential for continuous growth.

Some stats to start of with from this article featured on wearesocial.net
  • India has 137 million internet users – more people than the total population of Japan.
  • More than 60 million people in India use social networks – equivalent to the total population of Italy
  • India is home to a staggering 934 million mobile subscriptions – equivalent to more than 13% of the world’s entire population
Twitter and LinkedIn are also popular amongst Indian netizens, with each claiming more than 15 million users.

YouTube has particular appeal for Indian audiences too, with 20 visitors every single second. Each month, almost 56 million visitors from India consume more than 4 billion videos – 25% of them via mobile devices.

Of all these statistics, what remains to be seen how companies can use this growth to their advantage in order to facilitate the e-commerce transition to compliment their brick and mortar retail business model, given that the urban/rural digital divide still exists in India on a large scale.

New York Auto Show 2012

Two beauties caught my attention from the recent New York Auto show 2012

The first one in Red is Fisker showcased by Atlantic a 4 door sedan/sports hybrid car prototype, very striking in design which I liked after Alfa Romeo's Mito, Nissan also has come up with a concept car branded as Infiniti LE which has being positioned as a luxury car with 0% emissions and 100% electric.

Chevrolet also seems to be streching it's front grill design on 2014 version of Impala, check out more pics from the New York Auto Show 2012 at Cnet.com gallery here.

Mild Earthquake Hits Maharashtra

http://questgarden.com/71/26/9/081013095448/images/earthquake1.jpg
A Mild Earthquake on a Richter scale of 4.75 hits Koyna region between 6:45 pm - 6:50 pm today evening, tremors were felt in Mumbai, Pune, Satara, Sangli, Kolhapur, as per some geologist who was on Star Majha was informing that the earthquakes sesmic waves could have travelled between 300-350 kms range based on the Richter scale it has struck, i did feel the tremors while i was on the couch playing with my kid.

Well i had watched 2012 today at Inox, Typhoon Phyan has sprung enough problems for us already, i am more worried about the drama India TV and Aaj Tak with some other cheapo channels would cook up, harping again and again on doomsday "SPECIAL" shows, even the gods would get frustrated and end the world before 2012, i hope they don't watch these channels up there.

November rains are unsual in India, however the climatic conditions in our country are no longer unaffected by the Global Warming phenomenon, it's just that we do not appreciate what we have right now with us, Wall-E movie was one good movie which again made us realize how proud are we on our scientific developments, our commercial growth, knowing that we are growing by digging our own graves, it sounds exciting to find water on moon, but is it a good excuse to find a new home after destroying the place where we stay right now.

On a lighter note, after watching 2012 i just know now, when apocalypse hits earth, find a "Made in China" built Ark to board, you would be safe!
